Brent Jay Spiner is an American actor, comedian, musician, and singer. On February 2, 1949, he was born in Houston, Texas but moved to New York City in the early 1970s. As a stage actor, he started his career by performing in many Broadway and off-Broadway plays, including The Three Musketeers and Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George. He has enjoyed his career in the theater and as a musician.

Spiner moved to Los Angeles in 1984, where he performed in several pilots and made-for-TV films. He is famous for his portrayal of the Data in the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation and four subsequent films. He released the 1940s pop standards album, Ol’ Yellow Eyes Is Back, in 1991. In 1997, he returned to Broadway in the Roundabout Theater Company revival of the musical 1776., performing John Adams.

In the same year, he received the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Data in Star Trek: First Contact. Furthermore, he was nominated for the same role Dr. Brackish Okun in Independence Day, a portraying he reprised in Independence Day: Resurgence.
