Martin Kemp is an actor, musician, and director from England. He is best known for his roles as the bassist in Spandau Ballet’s new wave band and as Steve Owen in EastEnders. 1981 saw the release of their debut album, “Journeys to Glory”, which was their first studio album.
Their 1983 album, “True”, reached #1 in the UK and New Zealand. The band’s 1984 album, “Paradise”, reached #1 in Italy, the Netherlands, and the UK. He is the younger brother of Gary Kemp, also a member and actor of Spandau Ballet. He finished third in the tenth season of Celebrity Big Brother in 2012.
In 2017, he was a judge on BBC’s “Let It Shine”. In 1990, he starred in “The Krays”, as Reggie Kray. He also made his television debut as an extra in “Jackanory”, in 1992. He directed the short film “Karma Magnet”, which he released in 2008, and then “Stalker” (2010) and “Top Dog” (2014).
He was recently seen in McDonald & Dodds in February 2021 alongside Jason Watkins, Rob Brydon, and other actors. Kemp and Roman, his son, were featured on an episode of ITV’s ‘DNA Journey’ on the 24th of March 2021.
